Sacred Spaces Immaculate Heart of Mary
The journey continues Wednesday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m., as we take a trip to Immaculate Heart of Mary, located at 2416 7th Avenue in Watervliet. Immaculate Heart of Mary is the culmination of six local parishes that had been closed previously in the Cities of Watervliet and Green Island and included the parishes of St. Joseph’s, Sacred Heart of Mary, Mt. Carmel, St. Patrick’s, St. Bridget’s, and Immaculate Conception. Join CSSC staff, visiting chefs, foodies and local food producers for a monthly book club and practicum all about food entitled "Food Glorious Food". We will explore the serious side of food, how it is produced, the economics and politics behind it and the responsibility we have as consumers. Sacred Space for March The Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery
Journey continues in March, as we plan a trip to the Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery on Wednesday, April 5th 10:00 am. Bus leaves The Beltrone Living Center at 9:30 am. There is a $15 dollar charge to attend. April’s Healthy and Local Cooking Class – “Healthy Spring Cooking”
Welcome spring with bright flavors and seasonal ingredients. Join us on Thursday, April 6, from 11:00 to 12:00 noon, when well-known Chefs Joan Debinski and Paul Strasser will join up to demonstrate local, healthy recipes using spring’s harvest and Paul’s fabulous spices that can be put together easily and in no time at all. Class will take place at King Thiel Senior Community, 17 Elks Lane, Latham, with a $5 fee and will include a light lunch. Space is limited and prepayment for the class is required. International Women’s Day
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8th. IWD gives focus to issues that face women such as gender equality. Spurred on by the universal female suffrage movement, IWD originated from labor movements. The earliest IWD version recorded was a “Women’s Day” organized in New York City on February 28, 1909.
