DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, November 4\, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, CSSC is proud to recognize all veterans at our annual Veterans Recognition Luncheon at The Beltrone Living Center’s Lakeview Dining Room\, 6 Winners Circle\, Albany. All veterans are invited to attend (at no charge) and to bring a guest\, if they wish. Non-veterans are asked to make a suggested donation of $5. The luncheon will feature patriotic music by the Tri-County Banjo Band and Rafi\, “The Singing Jeweler.” Additionally\, members of the Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520\, representatives of the New York State Military and Naval Affairs\, the Capital Region NY2 Blue Star Mothers\, and Albany High School’s JROTC program will take part in the brief ceremony. \nThe luncheon will feature a Philadelphia Steak Sandwich with Peppers and Onions\, Green Salad with cucumbers\, carrots and tomatoes\, Fresh Fruit Cup\, and Patriotic  Cupcakes. SUMMARY:Community Artist for July and August - Elizabeth "Libby" Lee
DESCRIPTION:Libby Lee was a career art instructor and beloved teacher at Shaker High School. After she retired in 1983\, she spent time volunteering at the Shaker Heritage Society and for the Friends of Pruyn House. The founder of the Friends of Pruyn House often asked Libby to help by sketching one of the buildings at the Pruyn House site. Libby’s sketches have been used over the past thirty-six years in letterhead\, illustrations\, as note paper\, and in promotional materials. Her work mainly encompasses the use of watercolor. Libby was born and raised in Colonie\, graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Advertising Design\, and earned a Master’s in Art Education from Buffalo State University. As a longtime member of the Colonie Art League\, she has actively exhibited and won awards for her work. \nOn Tuesday\, July 2\, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.\, an opening reception of Libby’s exhibit will take place at The Beltrone Living Center. The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to see the exhibit and meet the artist.

SUMMARY:Healthy Bones for Life Leader Training
DESCRIPTION:Healthy Bones for Life is a community-based exercise and education program\, made possible by a partnership between Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital and Colonie Senior Service Centers\, Inc.\, that promotes bone health. The exercise program consists of weight-bearing exercises\, muscle strengthening\, flexibility\, posture training\, and balance exercises. These exercises\, along with a healthy diet rich in calcium and vitamin D\, have been shown to help maintain and improve bone health. Healthy Bones for Life classes are led by trained volunteers that instruct group members on how to perform the exercises and provide educational handouts. \nThere are two upcoming Healthy Bones for Life Leader Training sessions and we encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a leader to register.
