SUMMARY:Bluegrass Concert
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Tuesday\, August 26th at 5:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Dining Room at The Beltrone Living Center for a performance by Midnight Choir. \nBluegrass endures because of bands like Midnight Choir that see limitless possibilities in the blending of mandolin\, guitar\, bass\, and voice. The twang and tenderness of the southern mountains whispers through the melodies of this new collection of original songs by upstate New York’s Midnight Choir. Introducing melodic and playing techniques drawn from jazz\, classical and global traditions. This brilliantly arranged string band music stands out like a cool island in a sea of bluegrass that sometimes gets overheated. \nReservations are not required\, and admission is free. Doors will open at\n4:00 p.m.\, and food and beverage will be available for purchase. For questions or additional information\, call Diane at 518-459-2857 ext. 305. \nThis performance was made available through the generosity of the Albany County Arts & Culture Grant Funding Program.

SUMMARY:Thanks for Caregiving
DESCRIPTION:A caregiver is a person who has accepted responsibility for looking after a vulnerable neighbor or relative. A caregiver assists others in need\, putting the needs and wants of the one they are caring for ahead of their own. This unselfish act ensures the safety and well-being of those in their care. \nOn Wednesday\, November 19\, at 4 p.m.\, at The Beltrone Living Center\, Bright Horizons Adult Day Social Program will honor the caregivers of our fourty-five members. One of our guest speakers will be Renee Birnbaum a Certified Senior Advisor and co-owner of Choice Connections NY\, a senior housing advisory and placement agency. It was her personal journey coping and caring for her own parents who had both been diagnosed with dementia that inspired her to work in the field of geriatrics. \nRenee founded Senior Care Solutions of NY\, a long island based geriatric care management practice.  She spent many years working with families helping them make a plan and access services for their loved one. After moving to Saratoga Springs in 2012\, Renee took a position as Community Relations Director for Home Helpers and Direct Link\, a licensed homecare agency. \nIn 2016\, Renee joined Melonie Pratt as co-owner of Choice Connections NY.  Choice Connections a FREE senior housing practice serving the greater capital region and outlying counties. Choice Connections NY works with families and helps them transition to independent\, assisted living\, memory care or enhanced care communities when remaining home is no longer desired. Renee’s expertise in both case management and homecare allows her to work with families\, assess their needs and help them navigate the senior housing marketplace and access appropriate resources that are needed.  Ms. Birnbaum knows how emotionally overwhelming it is for families to accurately determine the needs of a loved one and to access the services that can maintain and nurture their quality of life. \nOther speakers will include Bright Horizons staff\, volunteers\, and members\, CSSC board members\, and our very special guests—our dedicated caregivers. We will have an open microphone available for anyone who would like to share their story. We hope you are able to join us for this special event. Refreshments and entertainment. If you have any questions\, please contact Sue Napierski at 518-459-7967.

SUMMARY:Mark Your Calendar – An Event to Thank Diane
DESCRIPTION:Every holiday season\, Saratoga Living and Capital Region Living magazines team up to present Capital Region Gives Back\, a celebration of the people who help make our community a better place. Annually\, ten individuals are selected—five from the Saratoga area and five from the greater Capital Region—who are involved in nonprofit work. The magazines tell their stories in their Holiday Issue\, which hit newsstands in November\, and then they are honored at a cocktail party and awards ceremony in December. The evening will highlight the best our region stands for – compassion\, connection\, and giving. In addition\, the event serves as a fundraiser for all of the honorees’ respective organizations; when you buy tickets\, you will select one of the ten nonprofits\, and 50 percent of the cost of your ticket will be donated directly to that organization. The honoree that brings in the most money for their nonprofit is crowned that year’s Capital Region Gives Back winner. \nCSSC’s Executive Director\, Diane Conroy-LaCivita\, has been selected as one of the nominees for her work and dedication in making a difference in our community supporting seniors and their families. \nThe 2025 Capital Region Gives Back event will be held on Tuesday\, December 2nd\, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.\, at Putnum Place\, 63 Putman Street\nin Saratoga Springs. The cost of a ticket is $40. CSSC will provide transportation to and from the event at no charge. \nTo get your tickets visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/7th-annual-capital-region-gives-back-tickets-1853506320299?aff=oddtdtcreator  \nWhen you get to their eventbrite site click get tickets.
