The former Woolworth storefront houses a gallery with an extensive collection of books\, paintings\, autographs\, photographs\, antiques and local history. Since 1975\, Dennis has offered a unique blend of historically significant items\, traditional antiques and fine art\, stylish objects\, rare and out-of-print books\, printed ephemera\, manuscripts and photographs. SUMMARY:Fun and Educational Weekend Outing to Seneca Falls
DESCRIPTION:Plans are under way to spend Saturday\, June 6\, and Sunday\, June 7\, discovering many of the sights and sounds of Seneca Falls\, the municipality where the women’s rights movement in America was triggered and solidified over one hundred seventy years ago\, and where the set of It’s a Wonderful Life was supposedly modeled after. \nThe group will leave early on Saturday from The Beltrone Living Center heading west and stopping at several famous New York State wineries including Montezuma Winery and Hidden Marsh Distillery for tastings. Then on to the Women’s Rights National Historical Park\, which includes the Elizabeth Cady Stanton House\, the Wesleyan Chapel\, and the Women’s Rights National Park Visitors Center. The group will be staying overnight at the Hampton Inn Seneca Falls. On Sunday\, stops at the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the Saunders (Amish) Country Store are scheduled. There will also be time to explore on your own. \nThe cost of the outing is $200 for members of THE CENTER and $220 for not-yet-members and includes transportation by Premiere Transportation\, overnight accommodations (based on double occupancy)\, some meals\, snacks on the bus\, and fees for attractions. DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Sunday\, March 8\, from 12 noon to 3 p.m.\, at The Beltrone Living Center for an International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration. \nIWD has occurred on March 8 for well over a century\, with the first organized gathering occurring in 1911. However\, the idea of IWD began a few years earlier when great unrest and critical debate was taking place amongst women. Women’s oppression and inequality was spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. Then in 1908\, fifteen thousand women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours\, better pay\, and voting rights. IWD is not country\, group or organization specific; it belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. \nMake Women’s International Day Your Day. The wonderful things about International Women’s Day is the day is not country\, group or organizational specific; it belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. SUMMARY:Community Artists for March and April: Linda Ackert Guzzo and Kathleen Nous
DESCRIPTION:Linda\, a native of Guilderland\, is an accomplished artist who creates in oils her feelings of each character\, personality\, mood\, expression\, and likeness of the portraits she paints. She paints people\, beloved pets\, scenery\, and still life. Linda especially enjoys painting her grandchildren.  Linda’s work has been displayed at the Town of Colonie Library and the Pruyn House. Linda’s daughter\, Kathleen Nous\, grew up in Niskayuna and is also a talented artist. Kathleen uses oils to paint boats and scenery. In addition\, she also enjoys sketching. \nOn Thursday\, March 5\, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.\, an opening reception of Linda and Kathleen’s exhibit will take place at The Beltrone Living Center. This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to see the exhibit and meet the artists.
