July's Outing – Pakistani Anyone? Join Diane on her next scheduled international excursion to Curry Patta, 187 Main Street in Altamont on Wednesday, July 27 at 4:30 p.m. (CSSC Bus will be leaving by 4:00 p.m.) As their website states, Curry Patta strives to serve the best authentic Pakistani food. Their special curries are prepared from recipes handed down by their ancestors and they are always conscious of freshness in all their ingredients. The cost of the meal is $33. Join Diane as we visit a historic church that has been repurposed but still holds much of its historic integrity. On Wednesday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m., Colonie Senior Service Centers will be holding its Annual Free Holiday Concert with the Mendelssohn Club of Albany and Tree Lighting at The Beltrone Living Center, 6 Winners Circle, Albany. Since its inception in 1909, the Mendelssohn Club of Albany has become the longest continuously performing arts group in the Capital District of New York State. On the 2nd Tuesday of each month, CSSC makes food items like produce, staples and frozen meats from The Regional Food Bank available from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. during our congregate meal service. Those who are in need are welcome to participate. Please bring your own reusable grocery bag. This month distribution takes place on Tuesday, December 13.

Calling Trivia Buffs ... What has teams of four battling each other for the title of “Champions”? Trivia Tuesdays will be starting at CSSC, December 13 at 2 p.m. in the Lakeview Room of The Beltrone Living Center. Older adult teams, age 55+, made up of 4 members each, can register to participate. Two teams will compete on the second Tuesday of each month, over the next few months, winners advancing, until the champs are left standing. Top team wins a cash prize! THE CENTER at CSSC OPEN HOUSE January 13, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Come and mingle, meet instructors and learn about THE CENTER at CSSC. At our January Open House, there will be information about wellness and fitness classes, artistic and creative events and club happenings, too. The open house is a great chance to see where classes are held and tour our building. Start your journey in staying active, connected and healthy in 2023! There will also be music, crafts, snacks and fun. Free for all.

The beautiful photographic exhibit “A Moment in Time” will be moving to The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy (265 River St, Troy, NY 12180), for the month of February. If you were unable to view the exhibit at either The Beltrone Living Center or Colonie Town Library please stop by The Arts Center to see this oral history pictorial project.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program of the Capital District (RSVP), a Program of AmeriCorps Seniors, will hold a Volunteer Information and Station Opportunity Fair on Friday, February 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30p.m.at the John Paine Mansion, 49 Second Street, Troy. Join us on Monday, February 13 at The Beltrone Living Center for great music and dancing with “Jade”, a Classic Rock band originated in 1971. They’ll play your favorite rock tunes with an emphasis on love for Valentine’s Day, so come to sing and dance along. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Bring your sweetheart or come alone. Entry is free and open to the public. The concert begins at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.  

CSSC makes it a priority to help older adults in our community battle food insecurity with monthly food distribution. On the second Tuesday of each month, free food is distributed at the Beltrone Living Center from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. during our congregate meal service. Those in need are welcome to participate. Please bring your own reusable grocery bag. Be our valentine and join February’s pick up on Tuesday the 14th. 

Join in as trivia continues on the 2nd Tuesday each month at 2:00 p.m. to challenge your random knowledge. Teams of 4 go head-to-head for the title of weekly champs! After all, four heads are better than one! The format has been changed to be a little less competitive and a little more fun! Grab some friends and come to the Lakeview Room to compete or watch.
